Garden of Witches Launching on Steam Early Access this May 23

The roguelike action RPG Garden of Witches is launching in Steam Early Access on May 23. The game has players help Sil as she tries to round up her unruly fellow witches and save the Garden.

The game is being developed by Team Tapas. The studio has been making games though released through mobile platforms. These include Bistro Heroes and A Girl Adrift. This upcoming title is the first one from the studio to be released through PC.

The games focus on the events which unfold as Sil struggles to gather her fellow witches to hold a tea party. This is to find a way to prevent the extinction of the Garden. Garden of Witches features cute characters along with fairytale-inspired visuals. Then there's also the fast-paced action that's based on real-time combat. The game also has players organically develop their own builds by mixing and matching a variety of spells, weapons, and Relics.

What to Expect

In a statement, the studio shared that for the early access version, players can look forward to trying out the five chapters of the main story. Each chapter comes with its own unique combat system and theme. In addition, the complexity and depth increases as the players progress.

Anyway, Chapter 2 introduces the Synergy System which lets players maximise the effectiveness of Attributes. Chapter 3 introduces Relics which have powerful and unique effects that players can use to either cover weaknesses or serve as core elements of their endgame strategy.

Chapter 4 has the Weapon Select System which significantly expands the number of potential builds and combat styles.

Changes Made

For the early access version, the studio redesigned the game’s difficulty system. The goal was to make sure that not only skilled players

A notable change made is the Counter skill being rebalanced. This has long been discussed in the community. As a result, it’s now become a high-risk-high-reward skill.

Getting Feedback

The studio also assured everyone that while the game is in early access, they’ll continue listening to player feedback and with it make continuous improvements. For the full version of the game, players can look forward to a bunch of updates that expands the narrative and gameplay content.
